Long-Distance Moving Across State Lines

One truck, one crew, door to door on our own DOT/MC authority — no load-sharing with strangers.

  • Written before Trace books the truck
  • Payroll crew, Atomic-owned trucks
  • Alabama household-goods standing on file

Start your estimate

Brianna can often quote it from your description alone.

No cost to ask, no commitment either way — this lands directly on Brianna’s desk in Fort Mitchell.

Half the long-distance calls Atomic Moving and Labor gets start with some version of “we got orders.” Sitting this close to Fort Moore means PCS season isn’t a slow trickle, it’s a wave — June and July especially, when families are racing a report date to a new post. Dallas Kimbrel runs our long-distance and specialty crew, and he’s built the operation around the routes our customers actually drive: up to Atlanta, out to Nashville, over to Charlotte, down to Orlando, and northeast to Fayetteville, near Fort Bragg.

Routes We Run Regularly

  • Fort Mitchell to Atlanta — the most common corridor, often a single-day delivery
  • Fort Mitchell to Nashville — frequent PCS and relocation route through north Alabama
  • Fort Mitchell to Charlotte — common for families relocating toward the Carolinas
  • Fort Mitchell to Orlando — a steady route for both military and civilian relocations
  • Fort Mitchell to Fayetteville — post-to-post moves between Fort Moore and Fort Bragg

The PCS Timeline Problem

A civilian long-distance move can flex a week or two. A PCS move usually can’t — you have a report date, household goods weight allowances to think about if you’re supplementing a government shipment, and a family trying to get kids enrolled in a new school before the semester starts. We build binding estimates around your actual report date, not a vague delivery window, and Trace’s dispatch desk gives you a name and a phone extension to call, not a call center queue.

How We Handle the Interstate Side

We carry our own authority on file for interstate household goods moves, so this isn’t a job we hand off to whoever’s available in a network — it’s our trucks and our crew from the Chattahoochee Valley to your new address. Dallas rides the specialty and long-haul jobs personally when the load calls for it, particularly moves with a piano, gun safe, or other awkward, heavy pieces riding alongside the household goods.

What a Long-Distance Quote Covers

Our estimates spell out pickup and delivery windows, valuation coverage options, and exactly which crew handles loading versus who’s driving. If your move needs a stop for storage in between — say your Nashville lease starts two weeks after your Fort Mitchell one ends — we can hold your goods at our own facility rather than routing you through a third party.

Ready to Lock In a Date

Long-distance dates fill up fast around PCS season, so the earlier you call, the more control you have over your pickup week. Get your details in through the quote request and Brianna’s office will follow up with a real timeline, not a placeholder.

Here's what shows up on the truck with your crew

You won't see these listed as extras on the invoice — they're just part of how a Fort Mitchell job gets done.

  • Our own truck and crew for the whole route under our own DOT/MC authority
  • Estimates built around your actual PCS report date, not a vague window
  • Delivery windows measured in days, communicated by Trace's dispatch desk directly
  • Storage-in-transit at our own facility if pickup and delivery dates don't line up
  • Dallas personally rides specialty loads with a piano, gun safe, or other awkward pieces

Really professional. There seems to be an employee there to pick up the slack if ever any. It makes for an otherwise stressed situation, perfect. Thanks.

Questions that come up on this job

Answered before you have to ask twice

Do you handle PCS moves on a report-date deadline?
Yes, this is a large share of what we do given how close we sit to Fort Moore. We build the pickup and delivery schedule around your report date and stay in direct contact with dispatch as the date approaches.
What long-distance routes do you run most often?
Fort Mitchell to Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte, Orlando, and Fayetteville are our most frequent corridors. If your route isn't listed, ask us anyway — we run one-off long-distance jobs outside these lanes too.
Is this your own truck and crew for the whole trip, or does it get handed off?
It's our crew and our equipment for the full route under our own interstate authority. We don't subcontract the load to another carrier partway through.
Can you store our things if our new place isn't ready yet?
Yes, we can hold your household goods at our own storage facility between pickup and delivery, which is common with PCS timing gaps. Ask about this when you request your long-distance quote.
