Uprights vs. Grands

An upright piano is heavy and awkward but relatively stable once it’s on a dolly — the challenge is usually stairs, tight turns, and doorframes in older homes around Fort Mitchell and Phenix City. A baby grand is a different problem entirely: the legs come off, the lid and fallboard need securing, and the body has to be boarded and wrapped before it ever gets tilted onto a skid. Dallas’s crew handles both, but they don’t treat them the same way, and neither should whoever’s moving your piano.

Why This Isn’t a Job for a General Crew

Older Homes and Tight Stairwells

A lot of the housing stock in this part of Alabama has narrower stairwells and lower ceilings than newer construction, which changes the approach for getting a piano up or down a flight.
